Sony Vaio VGN-TZ21WN recent downgrade Vista to XP Pro. Everything works except for the Microphone.

Used full Vaio support driver packs, but the microphone fails to work. Control Panel says device working properly but audio troubleshooter fails and volume control inoperable, Skype audio controls say the same, but no contol is possible. Driver is Realtek HD audio input. Speaker outpuit is fine. Any ideas?

Go to Star/Control Panel/System/Hardware tab/Device Manager and reinstall the Audio driver again(right cick on it, select uninstall and restart.
Then go to Start/Control Panel/Sound and make sure the correct device is selected for Recording device.
Then go to Start/All Program/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder. Test the microphone with it, does it work?

Download the driver from the site below. After accepting the agreement, download the R2.35 driver for Win7/Vista.

Uninstalled driver having downloaded as suggested, reinstalled new driver, problem just the same - speaker sound but no microphone input.

Follow the instructions sony gives you for the audio driver under XP.
You need to not only update your BIOS, but install KB835221 from Microsoft to enable the audio to operate correctly. Here is the link with instructions:
