Connecting a Cisco 3750 switch to another 3750 across a layer 2 SM fibre
Hi,
I have to connect a Cisco 3750 to another 3750 across a layer 2 fibre link as the title says. I am looking for any advice on how to make sure the addition of this switch has no detrimental effect on the existing LAN infrastructure as I am working in a financial environment where downtime is unacceptable.
- I have set the switch VTP mode to transparent
- I have set the STP VLAN priority to its highest number so that means the lowest priority so it won't cause a root bridge election
- I have set both switch ports to be trunks, encapsulation dot1q and have disabled STP portfast.
I think that's really about it but I wanted an expert to have a look and consider any other potential issues.
The main one for me apart from the configuration is the single mode fibre actually working end-to-end as it's 17km long and managed by 3 different groups of people....not great.
Thanks a lot for your time,
Ally

Istvan,
All the standard config is determined by the bank I am working for.
I had 2 swiches to come online both at the end of a ZX fibre link, about 17km long with 3 vendors. One is OK and one isn't so will deal with that tomorrow.
Thanks for the help today.

The other thing I can check is the link isn't working is to cross the fibre Tx and Rx as there isn't a record of how each vendor did their end.
Thanks
