gcc reinstallation

Hi all,
I'm trying to reinstall gcc package,
can any body explain to me why is the difference in size while the packages names is the same
[root@localhost documentation]# yum upgrade gcc

The installed package should have a size greater than the downloaded one specially that when a Software is installed it'll be extracted on the HDD...The down loadable package could contains a lot of zipped files that should be extracted during installation
