Access 2003 does not shown all the contents of an ODBC SQL2008 TEXT datatype field

I have a backend SQL2008 dB feeding an Access2003 front end. One field in SQL is used as a comments box, it has a datatype in SQL of TEXT.
When this is used in Access  the contents are limited to the first 256 characters.
Is there a way round it?
