What software does microsoft recommend upgrading to for windows 7 network backups?
I have been trying to back up windows 7 with ghost 8.3. I wasn't able to do it, without having to use a windows 7 disk to repair the startup after applying the image back to the same machine.
I have heard a lot about acronis, as well as updating to Norton ghost 14. I do like ghost, but want Microsoft's recommended software.
Anybody?

Windows 7 includes "Backup and Restore" which Microsoft obviously recommend because it's theirs. And it's free.
:)
See it here: Control Panel\System and Security\Backup and Restore or just click the Orb and type backup.
Acronis True Image works very well with Windows 7 and is more flexible than Microsoft's product.

Personally, ever since Windows Vista, I have used Acronis, and that has worked very well. Acronis just came out with a version that is compatible with Windows 7.
However, Microsoft probably recommends its own backup tool, which has been improved in Windows 7. See an article about it on my web page:

I want to know about 3rd party software for network backups. With windows backup, you can't restore over a network.

Can you restore acronis over a network?

anyone's thoughts on norton ghost 14?
Acronis can be used over a network:

But if you need more sophisticated network backup for multiple machines you need:

Most reviewers find Acronis to have the edge on Symantec's Ghost, and it's certainly cheaper, but both are excellent products.
