Connected to VPN, but can not connect to Microsoft Exchange

I have had a few people contact me today that they are having issues connecting to Microsoft Exchange through our VPN.  So I have gone into each user's computer remotely to make sure that they are connected correctly to the VPN.  The hostname is right and they are connected to the VPN, but they can not access Microsoft Exchange to get e-mails.  Do you have any suggestions?
