I have a ASA 5510 and I am looking to upgrade the software, while I know the actual process is relatively trivial (upgrade, reload bla bla bla) I want to make sure I have all my basis covered as I am no Cisco master.

I am currently running 7.2(2) and ASDM v5.2(2)

Looking to jump to v8.2.1 and ASDM v6.2

I do believe this is possible, however I do know that earlier versions reqire updating in sequential order. I have successfully uploaded the software to flash so all the pre-upgrade work is complete.

My question is this:

My users currently use Cisco VPN Client 4.x, when I perform this upgrade will those clients be unable to connect? I will of course plan to roll out Cisco AnyConnect v2.3. I assume I will have to create the profile for the AnyConnect VPN client?

Obviously I am asking this because I do not want there to be any uneccesary downtime to my users because I failed to do something.

For those that have performed a successful upgrade, am I missing anything?
