linksys wifi routers and range expanders

I have one WRT54G2 and two WRE54G, I've d9ownloaded latest firmware for all three devices. Also I setup WEP encrytion and have connected with 3 ups each device separately. The problem that we have is that sometimes client PCs, take about 30 minutes to get a IP Address, and sometimes they dont. WRE54g's have both lights BLUE, indicating that they are well connected. I come to test it and it works fine. This behavior is sometimes, (of course when I am not there) :(

the configuration is set up this way:

wan
Ip> via DHCP

the security on three devices is setup to be:

WEP with a shared Pre KEY.

Both WRE54g  have the same config as shown.

In routers advanced settings, I also have this config, (default)

Authentication Type: AutoShared Key    (Default: Auto)
Basic Rate: 1-2 Mbps     DefaultAll   (Default: Default)
      Transmission Rate:  Auto1 Mbps2 Mbps5.5 Mbps6 Mbps9 Mbps11 Mbps12 Mbps18 Mbps24 Mbps36 Mbps48 Mbps54 Mbps  (Default: Auto)
CTS Protection Mode: Disable   Auto     (Default: Disable)
Frame Burst: Disable   Enable   (Default: Disable)
      Beacon Interval:   (Default: 100,Milliseconds, Range: 1 - 65535)

Your post is really confusing.  How are the routers communicating with each other?   Are they connected to each other by wire?  What is each of them supposed to be doing?  Are they ALL running DHCP? If so, why?  What ranges of IP addresses are they handing out?  What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

if you knew what a WRE54G is then you wouldnt be confused... but thanks anyway
Got it; sorry, I read "WRT54G," rather than WRE54G, which is why I was confused.  As I'm sure you know, the WRT54G is a router.  My bad.

Since you have everything (except WEP) set to the default settings, and the problem is intermittent, I'm wondering if there might be a nearby wireless network (perhaps a neighbor's) that is turned on some of the time, which some of your PC's are trying (but failing) to connect to.  When they attempt to connect to the neighbor's network, they are unable to get an IP address, but waste their time trying.  Until, eventually, they connect to your network, and get their IP address.

If you think that might be a possibility, then, if you haven't already, you might change your SSID on your wireless router and your range expanders to be something other than the default, so that your clients can easily determine that they are connecting to YOUR network, and not the neighbor's and then, under preferred networks in the "problem PC's" settings, set them so they connect to your SSID automatically, but all others manually.

I have a PC connected via cable ethernet to one of the WREs, and that one is the machine that show this intermittent problem more often. (Sorry for my english) and there is a wireless laptop which is connected wirelessly to the other wre, they are in the same little room.

Upgraded firmware on 3 devices.   WRT is in the main living room at the entrance, the house is very solid concrete, between this living and and office there are aproxximately 4 meters of wall, in this office there is the first wre, and a laptop.

Then there is the second floor where the 2nd wre is installed, and it has the computer connected via cable. (wired) Both lights (blue) always remain blue when this behavior ( not getting ipS) happen.

Thanks again

Also, I had already changed default ssid on wr (s)  and regsitered them on network prefrences on wifi, and WREs, just for the records.
You are using the WRE incorrectly.  The wired ethernet port is not supposed to be used to connect a PC to the network.  It is ONLY supposed to be used to set up (configure) the WRE.   Once you set up the WRE using the ethernet port (or wirelessly)  you connect to it wirelessly from the PC.
