What is causing a kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork:303 error in Safari?

We have a web application using jsp. From one page we send a form.submit() using javascript which loads a page such as stopTask.jsp. This page runs some sql updates and then redirects to a showTasks.jsp. The problem is the page crashes on stopTask.jsp with the kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork:303 error "Safari can not open the page" etc.
I have tried putting logging in using java, before the sql and redirect lines are run, but it does not seem to be making it to the log line in my code.
I have tried removing all line breaks between tags but this still does not work.

The problem is also not consistent, sometimes the page runs and sometimes it doesn't. Safari version is 4.0.3 on Leopard.
It works in opera on the same machine (firewall at the machine location wont allow other browsers).

Could this be a bug in Safari on Leopard? or is there a solution we can use to get around this problem?
