Remote Desktop Fails after Restart

Hi Experts,

We have a users machine that cannot be connected to via remote desktop or remote web workplace.

I read on experts exchange how to fix this by typing:

ipconfig /flushdns

After typing this remote desktop and remote web workplace work.  However after a restart the problem persists.

What can I do to fix this for good?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

as a workaround you could create a scheduled task on the problem pc:

open notepad and type the following:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
net stop netlogon
net start netlogon

save the file, in the drop down 'file as type' menu make sure it says '*.* All files' and name it something.bat.

add it as a scheduled task to run at logon.

it'll save you doing it every time

Hi Mrroonie,

Thank you for your suggested workaround.

I would be interested if any other experts have any suggested permanent solutions.

Thanks,
Dave
are the clients assigned IP addresses via DHCP?

if so it may be worth trying assigning them static IP's, or maybe just a static DNS - make sure it's pointing to your DC
The client is assigned IP address via DHCP like every other client.

The client also has static DNS set to point to the DC (SBS 2003).

Any other ideas?
