This will start off a very vague question as I am not sure the amount of information you will require.

We have been having a lot of issues running our backups.  Failing most nights or just running forever.  A full backup of our file server takes over 56 Hours.

Because of this we changed our backup schedual so we run all our servers to a disk during the night and then during the day move it over to the Tape.  We use LTO3.

The problem we are having is that LTO 3 has a maxiumum speed of 216GB/H while the maximum speed we are currently getting is 118GB/H on average.  We are losing 97GB/H.  This is causing us some issues as we keep running out of time every day.

The server is
DL380 G4
Intel X3.6GHz 2MB 370/380 G4 Processor
HP 4GB REG PC2-3200 2x2GB DDR
Server 2003
Backup Exec 11D

Auto loader
HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Ultrium 920 Tape Autoloader

SCSI cable connecting the two.

Any ideas where to look to try and speed this up?

Thanks in advance.
