Deleted AD/Exchange user still shows up in pre-scheduled Outlook Calendar meetings

Hello,

We have a user who left our company and has been deleted from Active Directory and his mailbox has been purged from Exchange, however, he used to be on many different meeting schedules and his name is still on there. If anyone tries to cancel a meeting with his name on it, the person gets an undelivered message (this is logical since the deleted user no longer has a mailbox). I thought if you delete a user from AD and Exchange the calendar gets updated. Please help me resolve this issue. I tried Google and the majority of the websites mention "Outlook Delegates" but I don't beleive this is the case. I just need this deleted user not to appear on everyone's calendar.

Our environment is Windows 2003 with Exchange 2003.

Thanks!

I've run across this issue before and trying to remember how I rectified it.  There was something about the originator needing to remove that user so it would update everyone else.  If you think about it, even though you've removed the user from AD, a user can still be referencing a user no longer with your company and his/her Outlook will still attempt to deliver to that reference.

I called Microsoft and was able to delete the entries from Outlook by removing the recurrence option.
