more than one SMTP Connector with the wildcard
Hey,
I'm running exchange 2003 and i have a front end and a postfix server. I would like to add two smtp connector with Wildcard (or add a second smarthost [192.168.20.1][192.168.20. 2]). My quesion is
First of all is the syntax correct [192.168.20.1][192.168.20. 2] for two smarthost on a single connector?
how exchange interprete this action? load-balancing or failover?
is it possible to force certain users to use a connector and other users to use the other connector if i use two connector?
Thanks for all

All you can do with SMTP connectors is load balance or block.
Exchange doesn't route based on the sender, only on the recipient.
If you want to use two smart hosts, you are almost correct, it should be , between them.
[192.168.20.1],[192.168.20 .2]
You could use two connectors or the same connector. If they need to authenticate and the authentication is the same, then a single connector will be fine.

if i chose to restrict a user from using a particular connector.
if i understand i restrict user1 from using the first connector and i permit user1 to use the second connector. So the second connector will handle mail from user1?
hif so how can i do that?

If you restrict a user from one connector, then you will see email failures.
Exchange will NOT try to use the other connector. It will attempt to use the lowest cost connector with the domain name that matches. It will either fail or succeed. In the event of a failure, the message is NDRd.

Correction: he is right.
If the connector with restrictions is used, the email will be ndred.
However,if it uses the other connector,it will work.
It works in round robin fashion.
