XSL Issue

Last Modified: 2013-11-18
How would I write an XSL function that overrides the standard docbook html stylesheets that would eliminate the title attribute from the div tag? Docbook is turning <title> into something like <div title="title">title</div> but I don't want the alt text.
Watch Question

Which version of Docbook are you using?

Docbook XSL 1.75.0 and Docbook 5

It would go a long way in help me if you could post some sample XML to test on. I don't have any Docbook XML.

<chapter xml:id="ch01" xmlns="http://docbook.org/ns/docbook" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" version="5.0" xml:lang="en">
<title>This is Chapter 1</title>

And the generated code would be:
<div title="This is Chapter 1" class="chapter" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><div class="titlepage"><div><div><h2 class="title"><a id="id1616297">This is Chapter 1</a></h2></div></div></div></div>

Is there any way I can make a function in the customization layer to do the same thing so that I do not need to change core code?

Looking into it...

If you plan to use standard customization layer, I can't help you because I don't have the tools installed to test. The original post did ask for a change to XSL (as I understand), which I provided. But I can only guess at what the actual customization would look like using RELAX NG (see code snippet).

The solution I provided works, but I also understand not wanting to modify the XSLT as well.

namespace db = "http://docbook.org/ns/docbook"
include "docbook.rnc" {
   db.div.title.attribute = empty
