Word 2008 quits when trying to print to HP 3015 from OS X 10.5.
Watch Question

Can you print to that printer from other apps?

in addition to that question.  Can you print to any other printers?  have you installed the latest update for Word 2008?

I cannot print to that printer with other apps.
I can print to other printers.
I can print to the printer if I use the generic postscript driver.
I have installed the latest OS and Microsoft Office 208 updates.
I have repaired permissions.
I have run Disk Warrior on the computer.
I have deleted the HP P3015 print driver from the PPD resources folder and re-installed from the CD.
HP tech support has provided me a case number, but not a solution.

what happens when you print from other apps?  do they quit out as well?  sounds like an issue with the driver.  and im assuming the generic postscript driver isnt cutting it?

Other apps quit too unless I use the generic driver which doesn't access the duplex feature of the printer.
HP doesn't even have a driver on line that I can try.
I know that the driver on the CD will work with 2008 MacBook Pro's, but not a 2006 MacBook Pro, or an eMac.

You should be able to set it up like any other printer as it appears to have OS X drivers. What version of OS X are you running?

Have you tried these?

Running 10.5.8.

I don't see anything about HP drivers in the gimp solutions.

http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php will show you that the 3015 is a supported printer.   They're probably considering the HP printers as PCL printers. I'd download the latest stable version and see if that doesn't help.

I'm sorry. My printer is an HP LaserJet P3015x. Apparently the "P" makes a difference.
After installing the driver from the CD, I get "HP P3010 series" as the driver choice.
I found an HP 3015 driver (without the P), and tried it. It didn't work either.

Sounds to me that the driver should be included with the OS, although one on disk would probably be OK.

Have you tried printing to this printer from another Mac?

How are you attempting to set up the printer in Printers and faxes area?

Has the printer ever worked from the Mac other than with the PS driver?

I am able to print to it with three different MacBook Pro's running 10.5.8 which is the same OS as is on an iMac (2006), and MacBookPro (2006).

Yes, the iMac and MacBook Pro were both upgraded from 10.4.x. Are there left over 10.4.x files in the printer folder that I should remove with sudo or root?

I'm setting up the printers with "IP"- "Line Printer Daemon LPD".

New printer which never worked with these Mac's except with generic postcript driver.

The IP printing should be OK.

I suppose that there could be left over files, but I'd think that the printing drivers would be overwritten so that wouldn't be an issue.

You might try renaming the Printers folder and/or moving it to your home folder and then do an Archive and Install, remembering to check the box to preserve network and user settings.  This would put out new system files and should replace the Printers folder.  Another possible alternative would be to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but I'm not sure that would solve the problem.
