Moving over Perfmon template
Can I carry a template I have in one server to another, without having to rekey the counters for the new server?
I tried to save the log as a .htm file and brought it in a new server, but it does not use any of those counters, but only the ones added in the new server.

Thank you. In this case, both the servers are SQL. So all counters would apply to both servers. Is it possible to move the log definition to the new server, saving the re-entry of the counters?

No.. You can't do that..
Trying to do so might corrupt the installed or existing counters and you may need to fix it again..

Not sure what you meant by Creating counters from Scratch..
While installing an application, they might include perfmon counters as part of their installation.
There's no need for you to create the counters or in other words you can't create a new counter in a server..

so, let me clarify: I just want to use the perfmon tool to monitor the server, and trying to use counter provided within the utility. I have let's say 40 counters that I am monitoring on the server, and I want to monitor the same counters in a similar server. I am wondering, if I can somehow move a template from ServerA to ServerB, so I just pull up the template and start monitorting. That is what I meant if we need to start from scratch (to add the counters) to monitor the performance.

Counters in a server vary based upon the applications installed in that server.
Say if you have SQL Server installed in ServerA, then it would have SQL Server related counters and you can't move it to ServerB which doesn't have SQL Server installed.
But Perfmon provides you the ability to measure counters in another server..

As mentioned you can't use those counters in other machines but you can collect perfmon counters through traces for other machine.
