Backup Exec - NOT APPENDABLE (MEDIA FULL)
I have my daily, differential job utilizing a media set that contains two tapes. The job is set to append (overwrite if no append media is available) so when tape 1 fills up, the backup continues to the next tape, tape 2. When tape 2 fills up, the back continues by using tape 1 again.
Overwrite protection period: 0 hours
Append period: none, infinite allow append
Im noticing, though, that when I view the two tapes from the Media tab tape 1 in the set has the APPEND UNTIL status of NOT APPENDABLE (MEDIA FULL).
This is making me wonder what will happen when the 2nd tape becomes full. I was under the impression that it would then overwrite the 1st tape. Now Im doubting this due to tape 1s status of NOT APPENDABLE (MEDIA FULL).
Can anyone confirm this behavior by looking at the settings I have listed? Please let me know if I should be going about this in a different way.

Your status for Tape 1 should show overwriteable. Correct?

Yes, it feels like the settings should be correct was hoping a Backup Exec expert could confirm.
In regards to the tape status, there is not a column for STATUS from the MEDIA screen. Under the APPEND UNTIL column, the tapes shows as NOT APPENDABLE (MEDIA FULL). Even though the media set settings (for both tapes) are set to:
Overwrite protection period: 0 hours
Append period: none, infinite allow append
Ill attach a screenshot for clarification.

It's correct. I should have said the status of "Overwrite Protection Untill" should say overwriteable.
It does. Your backup should work like you have planned.

Ah. So I can safely ignore the NOT APPENDABLE (MEDIA FULL) status under APPENDABLE UNTIL?
I'm assuming this is because the tape is full and can not be appended - only overwritten. Which is exactly what I want.
