Hello Gents,

i feel like my computer is taking all the Internet traffic, and its slowing the machine down.
I have a  Wireless Linksys router (WRT54G) +  Cable Modem (for my internet) and now i have bought a Cisco Switch 2940 and would like to have it setup to take all my Internet traffic and also have it to DHCP(auto assign IP addresses to which ever device i connect to it).

thanks in advance for your help.

is very important that your switch knows what is the default-gateway to forward your traffic.

A 2940 cannot act as a DHCP server.  You will need a 2950-E/LRE or better.
