Setup Activesync for remote mailbox
We have two locations at the company that i work for and both have their own exchange 2007 server. We have activesync email syncronization for those people that are at site A. The main mailboxis also located in site A and has Activesync/webaccess running on it. Recently we have had requests to setup people with email syncronization that have their mailboxes located at Site B. We set the people in site B up the same way we did the people in site A, but when they try to connect they get the error:
"Please correct your Exchange Server credentials"
This has happened with multiple people and we are setting them up the same as we do here and it works perfectly here. Since this is a remote mailbox, we figured they would connect to our Site A and exchange would see that they are on a different mailbox and redirect them to the correct server. Obviously, this is not the case and we figure there is a redirection somewhere, but we cannot find this. Any ideas?

increasing point value to 500
Is this Exchange standard or premium? If it is standard, it won't proxy the requests. You'll have to install CAS on the second Exchange server and setup another URL and SSL cert and have the users use that for Active Sync. Can you confirm this? Thanks.

We are using Exchange standard. I would assume that premium would do this proxy, correct?

thank you for the link. from the link i was able to do some more digging and found this event in the applicaton log on the current activesync server (not the remote server):
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchange ActiveSync
Event Category: Configuration
Event ID: 1036
Date: 11/17/2009
Time: 2:55:29 PM
User: N/A
Computer: Site A Server
Description:
The Client Access server cannot proxy the Exchange ActiveSync client request to the Exchange server "Site B Server". For this to work, Integrated Windows authentication must be configured on the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSyn c virtual directory on the Exchange server "Site B Server".
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
also when trying to connect via the phone they get the error msg. "Please correct your exchange server credentials" which from the link that you sent me in the note section on the flow chart it says:
Note:
If windows Integrated authentication is not turned on on the 2nd CAS for Microsoft-Server-Activesyn c virtual directory the user is repeatedly prompted for credentials.
I think this is the issue. I went to the Site B Server, but i did not see where to set this. any ideas?
Thank you so much, tntmax.

This is set in the IIS manager for the server. Is it running on Server 2003 or Server 2008? Thanks.

Sweeeeeet!!! We have success.
I went into the IIS mgr. and drilled down to the Microsoft-Server-Activesyn c directory and went into the "Directory Security" tab and into the "Authentication and Access Control" section. Put a checkmark in the "integrated windows authentication" box hit OK and waaalaaahh!!! it is working now.
Thanks so much, TNTMax. You are the man.
