attaching a DNS file to the zone.

I have a DNS file for a primary zone  ZoneX.com located under C:windows\system32\dns folder.
I copied this file to another location. I deleted the zone ZoneX.com. Now I decided to put this back. I need to know when I put it back, then I should manually create the zone in the DNS server. After then would the zone gets populated automatically with the records, I guess it should, and how long it takes? is is fast process?

Watch Question

If you're using "standard" DNS zones (not AD-intergrated zones), then you should be able to re-install the DNS service and have DNS automatically "re-populated" with the zone records since standard zones are stored in these files.

If you do have Active Directory Integrated Zones, the zone records are stored in Active Directory and replicated to all DC's - whether or not they run the DNS service.

Hope this helps...

this is not AD Integrated zone.
I don't understand why I need to re-install DNS service.
I thought I could just create the zone through the wizard and select use the existing file and give it the name of the file that I put in c:\windows\system32\dns folder.
This should make the new zone show the records instantly.
