RTHDCPL.exe Process using memory
Our HP machines come standard with Realtek audio. A process called RTHDCPL.exe is running and uses a lot of memory. On most computers we dont use the sound, other than beeps and have never used the RealTek control panel.
Is it possible to have this so that if you want to make changes you can start the application without having it run in the background all the time? Or if not possible can it be removed without causing problems to the sound?

That's one of the things I go and get rid of right away. Remove it from the startup registry. Or you can just rename it and then run it when you need it. Your sound will work OK, but you won't have the control panel on the lower corner anymore.

Thanks, I was hoping this was the case.
How do I remove from the startup registry?

Thanks, I had used the msconfig to uncheck but I thought you were only supposed to use msconfig for testing, is it OK to leave stuff unchecked permanently and tell it to not display that warning on startup?
