Use of VPN with Kaspersky Internet Suite 2009

Last Modified: 2013-11-09
I access my work environment via a secureid tag and vpn over 802.11 Wireless. However if Kaspersky Internet Suite 2009 is running, the VPN is blocked and the connection not completed.  I currently close down KIS2009 when connecting to work environment. Please advise what change is needed in KIS2009 to permit full connection via VPN

Which VPN client are you using? Microsoft / Cisco / ...?

Hi - it's Symantec Confidence Online (tm) powered by Whole Security

* I do not know anything of any of those products used, so I have to guess. *

Symantec Confidence Online is a thread security suite. I reckon FirePass SSL VPN is integrated for VPN access. If all that is true, Kaspersky and Symantec will compete with each other, and the results are unpredictable.

The SSL VPN itself will only need the engress HTTPS/SSL port 443, which is (usually) not blocked by firewalls. But the software itself might create some network settings, pseudo network cards aso.

My first question would be if Kasperski and Symantec are known to be able to coexist. My guess is  a "No".

Perhaps not - ideally I'd like a config change in KIS 2009 that'll allow VPN without having to close KIS 2009. Can you suggest one?

I use Watchguard VPN with KAV and all works fine.
The only change I made was to include all our internal IP ranges into the trusted zone.
