Clicking on start and then run takes a long time.
I have Lenovo T61 laptop that runs pretty well but recently when I click on start and then run it takes 3 to 5 minutes for the run box to appear.
Also when I type in a command in the run box such as mspaint it takes another 3 to 5 minutes to open paint.
Not sure how to start troubleshooting this problem as everything else seems to start and run ok.

Have you installed any anti-virus???

is it happening for all the applications.
try combofix it could be a malware issue. you can download it from here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
NOTE: Before running this application be sure to disable your anti virus. After the application has started do not run any application or turnoff/sleep/hibernate the PC. let the scanning finish it will take nearly 10 -15 min for complete scanning. let us see the result after this.

Ran scandisk on the C: but OS reported it did not need to be defragmented. I defragged anyway and now my run box shows up right away and paint and calc pops up immediately.
