I configured our WSUS server over a week ago, and out of 56 computers only 1 has reported it's status so far.

Have I missed something? I'm not sure it's working correctly.

Have you configured the GPO settings for client side targeting?

I have indeed. all machines are adding themselves to the correct groups.

What is your update detection period set for?

Author

Commented:
Doesn't appear to be a setting that I've configured in the GPO so it should be the default of every 22 hours.

Were these machines built through cloning/imaging? If so, then check here:
A Windows 2000-based, Windows Server 2003-based, or Windows XP-based computer that was set up by using a Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP image does not appear in the WSUS console

None of our PC's are built through images. All fresh installs, all Windows XP or Vista and 1 Windows 7.

Hi dstewartjr

I'm running the clientdiag tool on a Windows 7 machine not reporting it's status.

I've taken a screen-shot of the output as it fails to complete.

Can you run the Selfupdate.msi file that is located in the Program files\Update services\Setup folder. ?

Author

Commented:
Hi,

My mistake the folder was present after all.
I followed your instructions in post 25805719

and ran clientdiag again, with no failures.
I will report in a couple of days whether my domain machines start to report status.

I've ran the batch file on one of our PC's but no update on the server. Should I be expecting one?
