How to get rid of enforced default home page in SBS 2008
Previously group policy (presumably) was setup to enforce the homepage of users in our domain to www.abc.com.
In the 'general' tab of IE the buttons to change your home page ('use current', 'use default', and 'use blank' are greyed out and at the bottom it says 'some settings are managed by your system administrator').
I want to turn this off letting my users set their home page.
But I can'd find where to turn it off!
I have looked in Local Group Policy Editor >> user configuration > administrative templates >> windows components >> intent explorer > internet control panel. NOthing is defined. I've looked tons of places and can't find where it is enforced.
THis is SBS 2008.
Any suggestions.
TIA

you don't want Local Group Policy Editor you want the "Group Policy Management" in administrative tools. Then it will either be a special policy or the default domain policy.
You will find it set under SBS User Policy
Policies\windows settings\internet exploer maintenance\URLs/important urls
Either disable it or change it

I changed the policy in SBS User Policy
Policies\windows settings\internet exploer maintenance\URLs/important urls -- unchecking the 'customize homepage url' checkbox
ran gpupdate /force
client still are unable to change their home page (grayed out).
any other thoughts?
or... how, from the client, can i tell which policy is keeping me from setting a diff. homepage?
TIA
