Undo Roaming Profiles - Change Profile Location in GP

Hey folks,
Long story short, we are undoing roaming profiles. I plan on manually copying over the data to local workstations using xcopy, but to redirect the actual profile path, I want to use a GPO. I want to set User Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Folder Redirection -> (Application Data | My Documents | My Pictures) to a c:\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\(WHATEVER)

My question is, since I can't test this on any workstations (long story), does folder redirection work with local paths, or does it need to be a UNC network path, like the dialog box seems to indicate?
Thanks!
