Managing failed faxes in SBS

beyondt asked
Last Modified: 2012-05-08
I have setup an SBS client with shared faxing.  Incoming faxes are delivered to a shared mailbox and outgoing faxes are sent by printing to the SBS fax.  After setting it up, there was a failed outboud fax that was sent to a nogus number.  THe fax kept attempting to resend the fax.  THe only way I found that I could terminate the resending was to log into the SBS server and open the Manage Fax Jobs app and delete the fax from the fax outbox.
Moving forward, what is the best way to address this type of issue, which will certainly arrise.  Is there a way for users to access the Manage Fax Jobs program to delete failed faxes?  Is there a setting which will automatically delete a failed fax job?  BTW, the sender DID receive a message that the fax failed to send.

That sounds like the ticket.
Now another quick follow-up:
How do the users access fax management?
Cris HannaSr IT Support Engineer

Logon to the server and use the fax server console.  Making them a member of  the Fax Operators group allows them to logon but they have very restricted abilities.

Okay, so there is no way to access fax management from their desktop other than RDP to the server, correct?
Would it be possible to have some sort of a fax management shortcut on their desktop?
Cris HannaSr IT Support Engineer

Sorry the fax management tool is not accessible as a shortcut.
But again, they are not logging on as Domain Admins.  They can't do "anything" on the server other than manage the fax server console.

Great communication.  Thanks for the help!
