Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003 connection issue

One client PC will, from time to time, lose their connection, in Outlook, to the Exchange server.  A simple re login to the Exchange server and unchecking Work OFFLINE fixes it.

I would like to make the issue go away, however.

Can be any number of reasons for that, most of them completely unrelated to Outlook/Exchange.
If it is one system then it could be anywhere in the connection - port, switch, network card, network card drivers.
I would confirm whether the problem occurs with another user on the same machine.

No other user uses this machine.
However, the user still has a connection to the file server and internet.
We even tried an automatic reboot, turning off the need to press ctrl/alt/del and enter a password.
The reboot opens outlook automatically...but it goes to work offline.
This one is on us!

It already was set for Automatic.  I changed to Manual, logged off and on, opened Outlook...reset to automatic and rebooted.  Let's wait and see.

While I appreciate that no one else uses the machine, that doesn't really matter. If another user does, is the problem still there? That will tell you if the problem is related to that specific user's profile or the machine itself.

I need to set up another user on that PC and run a test.  I will get back in a few days on this.

Outlook was set to Auto.
I set it to Manual, quit Outlook and reloaded it.
I then set it back to Auto and repeated above.
Works fine now.
