Host Intrusion Prevention for servers

In your experience, which AV products have delivered the best Host Intrusion Prevention Service for Servers?

Which ones have given the most problems, if any and if so, what kind of problems?

Any tips/ideas to remember while seeking this layer of protection for servers?

Thanks much

Further to my previous post McAfee HIPS can be centrally managed by McAfee ePO Server which makes defining and pushing out policies very simple.

what are some worthwhile competition to McAfee HIPS for servers, in your opinion?

thanks
I have all so used Symantec. They have stepped up a little with there new SEP client. However I believe that it does not have as much functionality, is not as easy to troubleshoot and has woeful central management compared to the McAfee offering.

I have not tried any other products so I cannot comment on what else is out there.

which do you find more effective (or less troublessome or easy learning curve etc)  with McAfee- Machine level or Network level Intrusion Protection, or both together.?
