Thank you for your help.
Services are already stopped... I mean I can't get them started as the master is corrupted... but when I am trying to rebuild the master db I am getting this message...
and I know its because I don;t have the original CD from where I installed SQL Server 2000 at this moment...

So is there any other way rebuilding master db....

I am also installing 2005 currently and if I can just get the login info from SQL 2000 backup that should be fine as that's the only thing I am concern at the moment.

change ur masterdb name to masterdb.2 .. for example..

and find masterdb from ur original cd..

copy and paste that masterdb instead of corrupted db..

and start ur sql server..

Agree but I don;t have Original 2000 setup cd, though I have 2005 Setup CD with me .... so what other option do I have?

from one of ur masterdb backups .. restore it to sql2005 with  replacing the default  path to restore.. and keeping the db version...

when we do that it means that we ave the master db of sql 2000 server

then detach it..
rename it to masterdb and copy it instead of corrupted masterdb
