What are the correct SMTP settings when using the Telstra 3G network on a mobile phone tethered to laptop
I have an HTC Touch HD windows mobile 6.1 phone and I am tethering it to my Laptop for general internet connection. running vista and outlook 2007. The phone is on the Telstra 3G network and I when I try to send mail out it wont allow relaying with the SMTP server. I have tried the SMTP server of Telstra of mail.bigpong.com but I still get outgoing mail still will not go out and I get the relaying message. Does anyone know the right way to send mail out of outlook on the laptop over the Telstra 3G network?

The problem is a little deeper than this "solution". Feel a little ripped signing up for this answer.
The problem has more to do with Telstra (and other ISP's) blocking port 25 on outbound 3G connections. There are a lot of forums and users with this problem. Sorry...no fix though. Whirlpool has a few forum threads re iPhones that are related though.

Just call Telstra 3G network and ask if they also require SMTP authentication to be set for sending mails out.
