Windows Server 2008 can't get internet working, pinging addresses gives "PING: transmit failed, error code 1231"

I've just re-installed Windows Server 2008 because my password no longer worked.
I kept a list of all its roles and features from before and have re-added them

But now I can only ping/access things on the LAN, and can't access the net, whereas all the other PCs on the LAN can.
If I ping an external address such as a DNS server, or google.com, I get "PING: transmit failed, error code 1231"

You want to ping an external address.. but where is your GW?

Byty

The DNS server is not in the same subnet with your IP adress clas.. so.. YOU neet a GW configured or at least a static route!
