Hi Guys,

Try as i might I cannot get one of the ethernet ports on a cisco router to act as a DHCP client.  The router is intended to connect to a DSL modem which needs to allocate the IP address using DHCP.  For some reason, no IP address is obtained.  I've also tried this with a 1700 series router and a pix 506e as well, same result.  Thinking that it might be the DHCP server in the modem, I also tried it with a network that has another cisco router handing out IP's to the PC's on the network.  Once again no joy.

I've gotton rid of all ACL's just incase they were blocking the DHCP traffic.  No go there either.

Anyone have a clue as to what might be happening?

Regards
