Data Modem (Tether) on BlackBerry Bold 9700
I just received a BlackBerry Bold 9700 with BIS and unlimited data plan.
I installed Desktop Manager and verified the "standard" modem was found on Com4
Followed the procedures on a few websites and with Desktop Manager on (and off) unable to connect
I do not have a tether plan, trying to test this before I get the plan.
Provider is AT&T - connecting via USB
With Desktop Manager on Diagnostic of Standard 33600 bps Modem Com4 successful (log attached)
Extra initialization commands: +cgdcont=1,IP,proxy
Flow Control - None
Dialing: *99#
All hardware features under connection unchecked (hardware flow control, modem error control...)
IP Header Compression unchecked
Username and password left blank (per online instructions for AT&T)
Was getting port errors now I get Error 692: There was a hardware failure in the modem
How do I get this to work, what settings need to be changed or if you have the steps I will delete all and try from scratch?

I know you are using AT&T but wanted to show you what it looks like for T-mobile and maybe you need more info from AT&T. Just a thought.

From what I can find the syntax is correct, the test of the modem was successful - the log was attached to the original question
also with the syntax the quotes didn't come through.
+cgdcont=1,(quotes)IP(quot es),(quote s)wap.voic estream.co m(quotes)
+cgdcont=1,(quotes)IP(quot
i saw the log too, and this jumped out- AT+cgdcont=1,<94>IP<94>,<9 4>proxy<94 ><cr>

If I change it to +cgdcont=1,(quotes)IP(quot es),(quote s)proxy(qu otes) same results

Your BB Desktop Manager has to read "connected" when trying to dial out through your BB. Does it say "connected"?

Thanks you led me right to it
I am glad to help. Thanks.
is your syntax correct- +cgdcont=1,IP,proxy?
from tmobile mine reads- +cgdcont=1,IP,wap.voicestream.com
also run a test on your modem and make sure it passes.
