QuickBooks 2009 Preferred Send Method

I am creating recurring invoices for some of my customers.  On the customer setup I have the preferred send method set to none.  When I generate the recurring invoices the process fails because the customer does not have an email address assigned (if I double-click the recurrence to generate the invoice both mail and email are selected).  How do I set this up so that neither email or mail is selected on the invoice?

Does the customer have an e-mail address in the file even though it's not the preferred method? That should take care of the actually issue.

To answer your actually question though, the original invoice that you create to save, remove the check marks from Mail and E-Mail. Those are not required fields and do not have to be checked.

No the customer does not have an email address.  Some customers do not have email.  The problem we are having is when we start QuickBooks, we are asked if we want to create the invoices.  When we say yes the entire process fails, not just the customers with None as the preferred method.  If we double click on an entry from the list we get the invoice created with both checkboxes checked.  There are about 200 invoices so we don't want to have to double click on each one.  We either want them all to be created according to the preferred method or have the ones that can be created be created and the other few we will double click on and remove the check box.  So are you saying if we put a fictitious email address on the customer record the email box will NOT be checked?  Thanks for your help.

While Frelling may have given the steps to remove the checkbox he did not explain why the error was happening in the first place. I, Stlinae, gave a correct  and complete answer in post 26033030, Frelling simply expanded on it with the key word of his response being "ASSUMING." I should get full points as I responded first.
please see my objection in post 29227939
So, even though I gave the answer first, I get no points? Remind me again why I bother answering more than my 3000 points a month?!
My apologise, I did not see that you were changing it to split points. Thank you.
In regards to the Administrative Comment, I agree, and am more than willing, to split the points. I believe that my answer was the user's most direct solution to fixing the problem at the source (the memorized invoice). While the other solution also indicated the need to uncheck one or more sending preferences (hence identifying the problem) on the memorized transaction, it failed to highlight two key operational characteristics of Memorized Transactions (See Steps #3 & #4, above). Furthermore, it was a bit too generic and I believed that the user would benefit from additional details. Given that, I had full expectations that points would be split.

However, the alternate suggestions given by stlinae: 1) to recreate memorized transactions would have also worked, albeit with extended effort on the user's part in re-entering line items for 200+ invoices; and 2) to set up a dummy email to circumvent the problem is, at most, a very quick fix, but not a permanent solution.

Being a user of Expert Exchange, I am generally pleased with the attention to detail that most posters provide in their solutions. Several individuals in my industry use EE as a paid service, and given that, they have that expectation also. As a poster, I return that favor in-kind.

While this has no bearing on stlinae solutions, I am also dismayed at other "solutions" that are posted throughout the various topic area that have clearly been submitted in a scatter gun approach to run in the points race, without any regard or attempt to understand the user's problem and offer a direct solution.

Best regards,

Frelling
