Replacement part on Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop

I'm trying to repair a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop that is not charging. I've opened up the laptop to replace the power jack and there is one part that is bad. I think it's a 5 amp fuse. I need a replacement. I'm including a picture of the part in question. It's located right above the power jack on the motherboard.

Where can I buy this?

If it is a blown fuse and you replace it without repairing the problem that burnt it will likely end up with you having 2 blown fuses.
This is an old laptop and is not worth the cost of replacing the motherboard. If you want to see if replacing the fuse will repair it, just bypass the fuse. If you don't see any smoke and it works when you power it up, then put in a new fuse.

i don't know where to buy that model, but can you not solder a mini fuse of 5 A instead there ?

yours looks like an industrial fuse :  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuse_(electrical)

Edbedb:

How should I bypass the fuse? And what could have caused it to blow in the first place? Surge (in which case replacing it *will* help), heat from the soldering by the power jack, etc?

Nobus:

Were can I buy a replacement? Do you have a link to a specific webpage? Thanks!
A fuse has 2 leads. you would bypass it by shorting them.  Just so you understand, I am expecting that doing this will ruin the motherboard.
You can probably get a fuse from your local tv repair shop.
Laptops are pretty well protected from power surges by the power adapter.
the value 5A suggests that it is the in line protection of the DCinput to the battery charger section.
there can be something amiss; but fuses do fail as well.
yours looks like a side connector came loose from the glass - can be caused by bad glue + heat
i would buy a couple (i expect them to be cheap) install one, and test; if it blos, check first what to repair in the charger section !

Nobus:

I've checked the charger and it's putting out the correct voltage. Anything else to check there?

The side connector most probably came loose during the desoldering (Heat plus torque).

Edbedb:

My local TV repair doesn't carry these.
you are checking the WRONG side
i posted the  : DCinput to the battery charger section.  this is IN the laptop, not out of it

Go to the nearest Dell service center. They will offer you better service for your laptop though they charge.
