Assuming the record select formula.

isnull({table.field})

If the 'value' is actually a linked table, and there is no record in that table, you need to link the table a a left outer join in the database expert and then use the above in select formula for any field in this table.

If you want to show "No Value" where the report currently shows blank, create a formula like

if(isnull({table.field}))then
  "No Value"
else
  {table.field}

Hi Guys

Thanks for your speedy input
I have overcome the problem by adding a numeric number to the transaction and then using the supress function against the record
This seen to achieve what I wanted
Thanks again

Beware of using suppress instead of record select.
Suppressed records are still included in summary calculations, and if you suppress a lot, then moving the same rule to the selection formula will dramatically decrease the time taken to fetch the data from the database....

Hi
I do appreciate what you say, in this instance I don't think I need any summary information, so supressing I think is Ok
