Do you happen to know if using an SSD drive is it the same?

Be careful if you are considering using an SSD drive - those with JMicron controllers (pretty much everyone except Intel's X-25 and OCZ's Vertex models) have a known problem with write delays, which can make them run very slow when they need to erase old data to make room for new.  I have one made by Patriot and it suffers badly from this problem.

They can actually use both, there is an adapter that allows a 1.8"  ssd to be used.  Thanks.
