I am printing to a receipt printer in IE 7, Windows Vista and the default print orientation needs to be set to Portrait and for some reason a program has caused the default print orientation to be Landscape and the receipt prints sideways.  I checked the registry at Cuurent Users>Software>Microsoft>Internet Explorer>Page Setup and there is no key for Orientation.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

-Geej

Hi Geej,

have you tried to recreate your profile for a starters.

Backup your current profile data to a safe place (other partition/disk/external drive)
Create another user with administrative rights (add it to administrators group)
Restart PC
Login with the newly created user
Delete your original profile using 'User Profiles' (delete just profile, not account)
Restart and login with your original account, new profile will me automatically created.

Let me know if it helps.

If the profile does not turn out to be corrupt, then try an unistall and reinstall of the Printer drivers. You will need to delete the Printer from "Printers and Faxes" and also any software installed in "Programs" related to that printer.

I discovered the problem:  I went into the Printer properties of the receipt printer and the orientation had to be reset inside those properties.  The above solutions were not what i was looking for.

Thanks anyway,

the default print orientation needs to be set to Portrait and for some reason a program has caused the default print orientation to be Landscape - as you posted.

It led us to think that you default setting was being reverted and you were unable to set it back, since you also mention going to the registry for a fix.

Anyways, its great you managed to fix it.

I presumed you've tried that, as I understood that this setting is reverting automatically.
