Procedure performance

I have a SP whose perf. widely vary w/o any blocking/ data vol upswings. What areas (code, server side, tempdb, memory, trace so on ) I should be examining - pls be specific in your recomendations, thx.

I actually cannot post plan on public domain. Can we work assuming code is pretty much looked at and last for further investigation.

Do you have you statistics set to autoupdate?

DB runs on a virtual server. Any way if more memory is added can be allocated / fixed to one sql instance over others ?
