How to enable tracing

I'd lke to enable tracing, as discussed here:  I've enabled those attributes on the trace node.  I load a few pages on the site but am not sure where to find the trace.

In IIS, my site looks like on port 5100.  How do I load it internally to view the tracing output?  I did try but that just brings me to my home page, which seems like a permission issue.  If you don't have permissions to view a page, it will usually bring you to the homepage.

I did search the website folder on the file system and didn't find a trace.axd file.

Is an iisreset required or anything?

    Accepted Solution

    are you denying anonymous access to you website ?
    if yes...two options...

    1: add this to your web.config ...outside of system.web
    <location path="trace.axd">
                    <allow users="*"/>

    or just temporary allow anonymous access to your website.

    The site is actually on an intranet.  anon access is on and so is Integrated Windows auth.

    I did try your suggestions but it made no difference.

    In the authorization node, I have <allow users="*"/>

    is it on local iis or you it is hosted on remote server ?
    did you try setting localOnly=false to allow tracing remotely?

    It is a local IIS.  localOnly does equal false.
