"Microsoft sql server desktop engine needs to instalt" over and over again!!

Our accountant keeps getting this message over and over again "microsoft sql server desktop engine needs to install" and just when it looks like it will finish, it starts all over again. The little bit of info I found on Google said something might be wrong in the Registry.

The PC has Windows XP Pro /w service pack 3 and uses ADP Payroll for Windows software.

Its driving her nuts! Need help!

Well, everything that I googled said that I should just set up her HP printer as a local install instead of a network printer. Bam, no more messages!

Thank you everything,

Make sure that the computer in logged in with someone with administrator privileges to install sql server.  If she tried to install with less than administrator privileges, she may need to completely misted and remove it under administrator privileges and then reinstall .

needs to install what ?
If everything works OK then one of the options is
to check in the registry startup entries and delete the one
that should not be there (pertinent to sql installation).
