Hamachi on Ubuntu Server 9.10 on VirtualBox - Connection goes stale and then fails

I am currently installing an Ubuntu SMB server and have found the ability to connect to Hamachi via the tutorial found here: http://www.supware.net/HamachiUbuntuHowto/

I have successfully (or so it seemed) installed Hamachi based on those directions - which seem to be the most popular - and it seems to work for about 20 seconds, but then the Ubuntu Server connection becomes "stale" and then "fails" and then the server status in every Windows console I've viewed has a blinking green status light with the status "connecting..."

I'd like to have the status be consistently connected and I'm almost sure since I can install it successfully, there must be some setting in Ubuntu to make it work.

Let me know if you need more details.
