Need notification when Visual Studio reaches a breakpoint

I need to get a text messsage when a breakpoint is reaches in my software. So I have installed the softwware which parses a text file into an outgoing text message. But now I need to get some notification that a breakpoint is reached.

Does Visual Studio 2008 maintain a Breakpoint log? I'm told by the makers of the text message software that using their getASCII module with a Breakpoint log I could track this progress and create that text file.

Do you know if Visual Studio has such a log? Or can you think of another way? Bringing Visual Studio as the trigger could be a pain, since it would fire every time I needed to check something.

Please let me know...

Thanks,

In this case, I would like to recomment BlackBox (Appsight). Our company used that tool trouble shooting all customer side issues. Although it can't notify the breakpoints, it can grab all exceptions, IO, networking, etc and give us great help in our daily work.

Can you change your code to send out the text message yourself before the breakpoint?

But I never will know beforehand where I will be setting the breakpoint that night. I want the flexibility to set the breakpoint on a live system without recompiling.

As far as I know, VS2008 doesn't have such functionality. Have you ever tried remote debug?

No. But that's something I've wanted to try to learn. I have machines (in restaurants) I need to support but on which I do not want to put the source code.

What would actualy reside on the PC in the restaurant?
