Windows + Break Key Combo will bring up the System Properties Dialog Box. On the Advanced tab click the Environment Variables Button. Under system Variables (& not User Variables) Click new and Enter DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES under Variable Name & 1 under Value. Ok out everything and Reboot.

Again Open the System Properties Dialog Box and got to Device Manager Under Hardware Tab. Under View Make sure Show Hidden Devices has been Selected.

You will see all the Ghost Devices which are installed on your System. Remove all USB components relating to Net2888 USB as in your case.

Also go to Control Panel >> Add / Remove Programs & see for any Driver Programs listed under Currently Installed Programs for the device you are connecting. If exists, remove any installed driver softwares from there.

Then Reboot & let windows detect and reinstall everything afresh.

Ravi.

Sorry, but I don't think above will help as you don't have the Drivers & you are asking for drivers in your Post, but try the above as I suggested.

Do you have USB 2.0 EHC Drivers installed in the Device Manager of Windows? Maybe that is causing problems.

See attached Image.

your usb interface seems bad to me; in device manager you will find errors imo.
try reinstalling the chipset drivers
post your mobo model so we know what we are talking about.
is this a desktop?  then you can install a PCI to usb card; for a laptop, install a PCMCIA to usb card, or a cardbus adapter to usb to test

you may have overloaded the usb interface, it supplies max 0.5 A at 5V

I decided to installed Windows 7. It appears that the previous XP OS was corrupted and didn't let me insatll the device even though i had the correct drivers.

Please post a new question. You will get better responses.

EE works a little differently than other forums. Other than the experts who have participated in this thread and the author of this Question, nobody is probably ever being going to see your comment.

Post a link to the new Question you post in a following comment in this thread & I will definitely have a look at it.
