BackTrack3 Install question

I am trying to install BackTrack3 on a copy of VMware on version 6.5.3.  While I am trying to run the command
chroot /mnt/
I get the following output
chroot: cannot change root directory to /mnt/: No such file or directory

I am sure I missed a step but I cannot figure out where.

You need to create the directory /mnt

mkdir /mnt

I am going to look at backtrack 4 and see if this will solve my problems.  An installed would be nice.
