Windows 2008 SBS DNS Records Recreate

Have a 64bit windows 2008 SBS server that has just simply lost all its DNS settings for AD (eg _sites, _tcp)

Firstly whilst the loss is troubling i cannot get a simple restore of the DNS AD settings

In the past netdiag /FIX OR DCDIAG /FIX used to go through and recreate the records again.

I have followed all the attached - - cannot find any 64 bit support tools anywhere online on on the windows 2008 sbs CD - apparently the 32bit are supposed to work on 64 bit anyway?

Wihtouth having to recreate these records manually - anyother ideas?

    Accepted Solution

You do not need to use any tool.

Simple remove and recreate the zone _msdcs.domain.local. After it is created, restart Netlogon service and all the SRV records will be registered automatically.

    Hope this helps!
