I have updated an XP client today and after the update was completed succesfully I can no longer connect to the client via SCCM 2007 Remote Tools. It only returns a white screen.

On the Client I get this in the program log:
\SystemRoot\System32\smsmdd.dll failed to load

Any ideas on what to do?

Maybe I should be a bit more accurate about the update part.
I have installed 67 updates from Microsoft Update (Security Updates, Critical Updates, IE 8 etc.)

Do you know what UPDATE was applied?  This may help us troubleshoot why this is happening.

I would also suggest updated the Remote Desktop Client on the SCCM server (or the machine you are using that starts the remote desktop session).

Sorry for the late respons.
I haave the list of updates from SCCM, but I acn't figure out witch of them made the trouble.

The SCCM server is now fully upgraded, but it didn't solve the problem.

The problem reoccured but then it was only in every second attempt.

I  then updated the displaydriver to the newest ATI Radeon 2400 PRO driver (released december 17th 2009) and know it works just as it should.
