Child domain user logging into OWA 07 without domain name

I have a parent domain and 4 child domains and i'd like to have the child domain users log into OWA without putting in the domain name (domain\user).  I'm using FBA with domain\name now and they authenticate fine with this setup but does require additional typing that i like to relieve them off.  I've checked multiple posts, including one here at EE (Title:Accessing OWA 2007 without using domain name in a multiple domain environment?)  but it didn't provide clear enough information.   Any help would be appreciated

I can't imagine that it would be possible to login without supplying a domain name (for more than one 'default' domain), because in a multi-domain environment, it will be possible to have several users with the same account name.  IIS needs to be able to differentiate between them.

My guess is that the answer was accepted in the other thread just so that the question could be closed.
I'm not sure if it will work, but I can explain how to configure IIS as described in the other answer you found.  You need to do this in IIS Manager.  Expand the Default Web Site until you see the VDir named OWA.  Right-click it to view the properties, and go to the Directory Security tab.  Click the button next to Basic Auth, and type a backslash \ into the Default Domain field.

You're right, it didn't work.  I relized in IIS7 the Directory Security tab is actually the Authentication tab in the features view.

Even though i didn't get the answer i was hoping, i'm still awarding the points to LeeDerbyShire for his effort.
