P800 controller handle 2tb drives?

Does anyone know if 2tb physical drives are supported on the HP P800 controller?  Hp documentation only shows that they go up to 750gig, as if it were written when 1tb drives werent even out, let alone 2tb drives...  they are no help, since they dont technically sell 2tb drives and wont tell me I can use them.

I am just wondering if anyone has done this yet, im trying to setup a 28tb system out of 2tb drives in a dl185.

I have seen a few auctions that show 24tb drive setups btu with the "E200" controller, and from what I can tell- the E200 is pretty much a base model and the p800 is the top of the line model for them.

Another option would be to use a third party controller like a high end adaptec, but it would need to have the correct kind of connections to the HP backplane, not sure which connection type that is, but I need two internal connections and also some external connections- IF anyone has any suggestions and I can find a controller to do the job well, then I will award points to them as well.

Thanks

They do list 1TB drives in the quickspecs, but as to bigger ones you may have to try it and see. I doubt there will be problems since they're less than 2TB, any problem is likely to occur when drives are greater than 2TB in binary rather than decimal.

I'm interested to see what you find.  I'll be doing something similar in a MSA60.  I just wish the P812 was out so I we could take advanate of teh 6gig sas and 3.0 Sata connections. Just out of curiosity, what drives did you decide on?

How did things turn out Chatfield?  What did you end up doing?  I'm considering doing something very similar to what you did and I am interested.

Actually, I was thinking about a different server from this post- I am using some WD 2tb drives with the raid capability enabled on them. They come disabled by default and dont like to be raided. I will post more info when I confirm that all of the above is working fine.

What server did you end up purchasing?  What WD drives are you using?
